Anyway, I want to share a little of the remarkable world which is Kathmandu. This hustling, bustling capital city is rich in temples and historic architecture and was simply bonkers in terms of congestion, pollution, terrible roads and severely challenged infrastructure. The people were fascinating, attractive and very quick to smile. I recommend Nepal to everyone, but would suggest that after a few days, you would do well to retire to the more scenic and tranquil beauty of Pokhara, before embarking on a trek in the hills and mountains. I missed out on Lumbini in the end, the birthplace of Buddha, due to the great humidity, abundance of mozzies and lack of time after Chitwan.
So, if a picture says a thousand words - here is my next chapter...iconic Kathmandu.
Busy streets, colourful rickshaws and dodgy electricity cables.
Swoyambhu - better known as the 'Monkey Temple'
Boudha - a huge, domed stupor festooned with distinctive and colourful prayer flags
What wonderful photo's glad your having a wonderful time x
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these Paul. Copied the last pic to show the children as our topic is mountains this half term! Les xx
ReplyDeleteHi Paul, I loved these pictures, the more I read about mountaineering expeditions in the 1970s (when I did that sort of stuff) the more I wanted to see Kathmandu - these show me what I missed - great photographs.
